Learn kitesurfing quickly with
a private instructor.
You will be coached by an experienced kitesurfing instructor, he will be guiding you every step of the way.
Learn Kitesurfing safely with
a safety boat and boat driver.
During your lesson with your private instructor, you will be assisted by a boat (boats we build ourselves), this helps for many reasons. Number 1, you'll always be close to your student allowing for smooth communication. Reason 2 being that during your lesson you'll be going down-wind a lot so the boat is needed to bring you back up.

Learn Kiteboarding in just 3 easy steps
Step 1: Theory and Kite control
Your Kiteboarding Journey starts with the basics.
Which includes the set up and rigging of the kite, kiteboarding safety where you'll learn how to release the kite in case of emergencies, and kite control.
Your instructor will be right there guiding you every step of the way.
Step 2: Body-dragging
This step is sooo important and fun at the same time, this task is what will allow you to actually kitesurf.
There are 2 parts to this step, first let's explore down-wind body-dragging.
Send your kite up and down into the power zone while you drag across the water on your belly, doing this will enable you to get up on the board later.
Up-wind body-dragging, use your arm as a rudder and point slightly up-wind while keeping your kite in one spot with the other hand, this will help you get back to the board if you lose it.
Step 3: Riding on the board
Everything leading up to this point set the foundation to your kiteboarding success.
You know how to control the kite, you know how to be safe and you know how to body-drag.

Hurricane Beryl Update
On July 1st, 2024, a strong Category 5 hurricane called Beryl hit Union Island and nearby islands,
causing a lot of damage.
Since then, the island has gotten a lot of help and is starting to look much better.
Our kiteboarding center in Frigate was hit hard by Beryl, and the landscape has completely changed.
But the HappyKite team has cleaned up the beach and kite spot,
we’ve already started giving kiteboarding lessons again.
The Frigate Kiteboarding spot is now OPEN, and we’re FULLY OPERATIONAL!
The HappyKite Loft boat was damaged, but we plan to have the floating loft back in the water
by early 2025. It will offer sushi, drinks and breakfast.

Happy kite Kiteboarding School rents North and Mystic Kiteboarding equipment. This is actually convenient if you want to travel light and try new gears!
We rent twin tip boards, surfs and kites.

OUR HAPPY FLOATING LOFT
Welcome on board! Our school & café are established in the lagoon of Frigate on a 60' catamaran originally build for day charter. Nicolas up cycled it to establish Happy Kite School and Gypsea Café. Spacious and groovy this is where we welcome you before and after your lesson to exchange about your kite experience. Enjoy yourself on de the deck of the boat celebrating your kiteboarding session and progress, relax, enjoy the pristine water of the laggon with a delicious & healthy smoothie or a cold beer!
